Schalke returned to the elite league again, but unsuccessfully–the club lost 3:1 to Koln in the first round. The financial problems have not yet disappeared, because of which Schalke could not afford to boost the squad this summer.
Borussia Monchengladbach spent last season poorly, finishing only in 10th place, but they started the new football year with a comfortably win over Hoffenheim. Monchengladbach has been quite active in the transfer market, so we can expect the team to compete for European places this season.
So far, it’s hard to believe in Schalke, the team has no experienced squad to compete to survive in the Bundesliga.
