Alexander Zverev shows reasonably good play this spring, so his getting into the top eight is hardly surprising, although the path to 1/4 was quite difficult for the German athlete.
Carlos Alcaraz played nine matches in May, winning all, including the game with Djokovic and Zverev on Madrid clay. The young Spaniard had a flawless meeting against Khachanov, but Carlos still makes mistakes.
Of course, if Zverev lost to Carlos on the fast clay in Madrid, on the slow one in Paris, there will be even fewer chances. But the game may drag on because Zverev clearly outperforms Carlos in stronger serves, so it’s hard to believe in an easy win for the Spaniard.
