Ottawa started the new season quite well, picking up 4 points in the first 3 games. losing only in a hard fought 5-3 loss to Carolina in the first round, after which the Sens beat Tampa Bay and Philadelphia 5-2.
Washington has had some serious problems in recent years, with the team already struggling to get into the Stanley Cup playoffs or not getting there at all. Washington also started the new season rather unconvincingly, not even scoring in the first game against Pittsburgh, then only beating Calgary in a shootout. So far the team has problems with the new coach, Spencer Carbery.
Still, there is no clear favourite in this game, the last face-offs ended in overtime, but expect a lot of pucks, Ottawa is now in good order with the effectiveness, Washington is still scoring little, but Ovechkin and Kuznetsov should make themselves known again.
